Your audio and video field recording equipment are likely your most crucial and valuable tools for your anthropological and linguistic fieldwork. Prior to your departure to your fieldwork location, it is prudent to strategize how to select and procure equipment that aligns with your objectives and ideally withstands the longest possible duration. In challenging environments such as extreme temperatures, humidity, sand, unreliable power supplies, or frequent theft, it may be necessary to have a secondary set of equipment. For more delicate equipment like microphones, additional sets may be required.
